Implementation of ventilation and air-conditioning systems in a two-level apartment on Shevchenko street, Lviv, Ukraine
We received an order for the implementation of the ventilation and air conditioning system with the use of high-efficiency equipment in an apartment on Shevchenko street, Lviv.

What we aimed for was:
  • To ensure optimal microclimate conditions in the apartment;
  • To install engineering systems with a minimum ceiling drop;
  • To use high quality equipment with low noise level;
  • To connect the Smart Home system through KNX.

Taking into account all the client’s wishes and the norms of air exchange for residential premises (in accordance with the state building standards), it was decided to implement a ventilation system using the following equipment:
– Supply and exhaust unit with heat recovery from the German manufacturer Maico

For easy exploitation and rational use of space, the Maico WS 320 KB was placed on a balcony which is integrated with a kitchen. On it we installed four sound attenuators and servo drives to regulate the supply/outtake of air. Air ducts provide air exchange in 3 zones of the apartment:

– 1st zone – living room, kitchen, duplex cabinet
– 2nd zone – master bedroom;
– 3rd zone – guest bedroom.

The supply and exhaust system provides air balance at the facility – it supplies clean and takes the exhaust air simultaneously and in the same volume of 320 m3/h. However, our engineers decided to use a ventilation system of the general exchange type for an even better implementation of air exchange in the house. It works in the following way: the supply of clean air is carried out to the distant points of the apartment, near the window; the exhaust air is carried out from the “dirty” zones – kitchen, bathrooms, dressing room. In all the bathrooms, the ventilation system provides an air rarefaction. Air ducts are installed with a minimum ceiling drop – 120 mm including thermal insulation.

Air conditioning system

Considering the original layout of the object, where the 1st zone is of the duplex type, we decided to use a duct air conditioner. Two indoor units of wall-mounted air conditioner provide a comfortable microclimate in other zones of the apartment. Thus, we used the following equipment of the Japanese brand Daikin to organize the air-conditioning system:

– Duct air conditioner FDXS50E;
– Wall-mounted air conditioner FTXS25K.

In order to use the maximum height of the ceiling in the duplex zone, together with the designer, we decided to install a Daikin FDXS50E duct air conditioner. Thus, this model fits perfectly due to its compact size. At the same time, the visible part of the unit – the grille – does not spoil the interior design. We made such decision in order to organize high-quality air exchange. That is, the power of the air flows allows the cooled air to reach the bottom of the first zone quickly, displacing warm currents upward. The air outtake is located near the balcony rack.

Wall conditioners Daikin FTXS25K provide comfortable conditions of a microclimate in the second and third zones, they are located near the windows in order to get as close as possible to the heat inflows. With the decorative false beams, we managed to integrate the indoor units of the multi-split system in the interior design.

The outdoor unit of the multi-split system Daikin 4MX80E is located on the external wall from the side of the cabinet.
All equipment is compactly placed, not occupying a ceiling space. But at the same time, in terms of productivity and functionality, it provides comfortable living conditions. A low noise level of the work will not cause irritation and fatigue.

Materials and metal parts for the implementation project were manufactured in Kiev, as far as we only work with trusted suppliers that guarantee quality and reliability. Equipment testing and installation took place directly on the object in Lviv.
